JACOB AMME, GRADUATE STUDENT, NEUROSCIENCE PROGRAM
I received my BA in Biology from Washington University and I have been a graduate student in the neuroscience program since 2020.
From cells to circuits to complex networks, the brain simultaneously coordinates activity at multiple levels of organization. I am interested in understanding how neural processing scales to support stable behavior. I am also interested in how brain activity is regulated across daily arousal states (e.g., sleep and wake) and over longer periods of time (months and years). I have implemented a trial-based naturalistic task (prey capture) in the context of multi-region electrophysiology recordings in mice. This enables us to investigate the effects of learning, motivation, and environmental factors on brain activity and task performance.
Outside of lab, I enjoy hiking, spending time with my cat, and exploring St. Louis.
