GAVIN YAO, UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCHER, BIOLOGY
Hi, my name is Gavin!
I am a senior at WashU double majoring in biology and film with a minor in business.
Exploring a variety of my interests, I find it most fulfilling to contribute to scientific discoveries that will push the boundaries of our understanding of the world. Slowly but surely with my research being part of the greater progress. In the future, I want to create a startup that will bring developing science into application at scale for greater welfare of our civilization. 💪🌷
Currently, I am curating small insect movement data during mice prey capture and free behavior experiments to generate training data sets for a machine learning model that is designed for recognition and better understanding of mice behaviors for the purpose of neuroscience research.
Away from keyboard, I am a sailor, a basketball player, and a skateboard hobbyist. I also like to scuba dive, hike, and be present in nature. And I love cats!
